gebana ag receives the dates directly from the farmer. The sale is carried out 'par pied' i.e. per tree, which guarantees an income for the farmer regardless of the actual yield. The dates on their panicles are transported to Kebili. Here they are sorted, washed and briefly dried under hygienc conditions. Depending on customer preference the dates are either pitted or directly weighed and packed on the panicle. The manual labour involved in this offers a welcome extra income for ca. 50 employees. Once processed, the boxes of dates are loaded into export containers in Kebili and reach Europe via Tunis on a container ship.
